`A House Against the Night’ collects Harry Guest’s poems written mainly during 1969-73 – the latter part of his time in Japan, and the first two years since his return to England. His other collections are `The Cutting-Room’ (1970), `Lost and Found’ (1984), `Coming to Terms’ (1994) and `A Puzzling Harvest: Collected Poems 1955-2000’ (2002), also published by Anvil Press.
A selection of his poems appears in Penguin Modern Poets 16, and he has also translated `Post-War Japanese Poetry’ for Penguin Books. Harry Guest now lives in Exeter.
