Two poems by Joe Winter. He was born in London in 1943 and taught English in secondary schools in London from 1967 to 1994. He now lives in Calcutta and contributes regularly to `The Statesman’ there. Anvil publishes his translations of Rabindranath Tagore’s `Song Offerings’ (Gitanjali) and a selection of fifty poems by Jibanananda Das, `Naked Lonely Hand’.
