Bint is a new poetry collection form Pauline Plummer. Several of the poems here have won prizes – such as ‘About Grief’ and ‘Thirteen Ways of Looking at the Hat’. Throughout there is a sense of a life lived across decades of change: from the terraces of Liverpool to the celebration of endangered species. A range of characters appear in these poems – a priest labouring for the poor in Middlesbrough, a young man in prison, a decorator dying too young, a refugee trying to make a life and an entrepreneur in New Europe.

Pauline Plummer was born in Liverpool but has lived in the North East since 1982. She has had two previous collections of poetry published and two pamphlets that were collaborations with an artist based on journeys in West Africa and toured galleries across the UK. She tutors Creative Writing at Northumbria and the Open University but has also run projects at university in Sierra Leone and given workshops in schools, prisons, adult education and for the elderly. She has been a writer in residence at Woodhorn Colliery Museum and Poet Laureate of Middlesbrough (2000). She has read her poems on BBC Radio 4, Tyne Tees TV and Poetry Ireland, and at The Sage Gateshead, the Troubadour Cafe and many other venues. She is an editor with Mudfog Press.
