About Flambard Press

back

Flambard is an independent press publishing poetry and fiction. Established in 1990, Flambard has a history of nurturing new and neglected writers from Britain and beyond. Their range of contemporary titles continues to grow in innovative and challenging directions, while the Flambard Modern Classics series demonstrates a commitment to the rediscovery of books that have been overlooked by the mainstream.

Although Flambard now publishes a diverse collection of books from all over the world, they remain especially supportive of writers from northern England. Flambard is supported by Arts Council England.

Flambard has published many poetry collections, along with fiction titles that include acclaimed novels by John Murray, Neil Astley and Richard Aronowitz. The press strongly supports the short story, and recent publications have included V. L. McDermid's Stranded. The Flambard Modern Classics series has also brought the work of well-loved Newcastle author Sid Chaplin back into print.
