Synopsis
Gladys Mary Coles's new collection takes its title from a poem by William Blake, suggesting both a visionary perception of nature and an engagement with human innocence and experience. In The Echoing Green she returns to major concerns of her earlier work, including the Welsh Landscape, the past and literary figures, but with a new intensity, especially in two ambitious and evocative sequences inspired by her strong attachment to the Welsh/Shropshire border country.
