Catherine Benson spent most of her childhood in Scotland and now lives in Bradford. When she left teaching she began illustrating and writing. She has poems for children in many anthologies.Under the name Cathy Benson she has illustrated two recen children's books: To Catch and Elephant and Omba Bolomba (written by Gerard Benson and published by Smith/Doorstop Books).

This is her first adult collection.
