About Naked Punch
Founded in 2002 by a group of young London-based thinkers, Naked Punch is an engaged review of contemporary art and thought. Essentially a federal, "non-institutional" project, Naked Punch is the spontaneous collaboration of thinkers and artists residing in different cities of the world.
The inter-disciplinary nature of Naked Punch aims to persuade the reader that so many of the recognised areas of expression cannot be clearly divided up into “spheres of influence”, to be tackled by a professionalized one-dimensional thinker, pursuing an all too sectarian approach. It is rather the interplay of such disciplines that needs to be fostered and encouraged.
Naked Punch aims to lodge itself in between high academic discourse and the dubbed down gibberish of all too many publications aimed at “the educated reader”. All too often it seems impossible to pick up a journal without either being utterly baffled by an obscure argument resting upon an army of footnotes, or downright disappointed when faced with yet another “Science vs. Religion” paper.
