Parthian has been publishing innovative fiction drama and poetry in Wales for ten years. We aim to promote new talent and bring exciting new authors to as wide an audience as possible. While we focus on Welsh fiction, the image of Wales our list constructs is dynamic, contemporary, and inclusive of different cultural groups.
We are based in Cardigan/Aberteifi on the west coast of Wales and publish many of the younger generation of Welsh writers. An independent publisher in the best sense of the word, our standards of high quality production and writing have enabled us to develop a national profile within Wales. This profile is constantly expanding as our titles gain greater recognition in and beyond the rest of Britain.
Many of our authors have won countless awards, the most recent being:
Cynan Jones, author of The Long Dry, who was was awarded in 2007, one of the Betty Trask Prizes for first novels - written by authors under the age of 35; at a ceremony sponsored by the Society of Authors.
Cynan Jones has worked as a copywriter, a music teacher and a tutor in a behavioural unit. He is currently working on a building site and is involved in a small business selling wine. He contributed stories to Urban Welsh and Richard and Judy's Winning Stories. He has completed a new novel, A Glass of Cold Water, and has another in progress. He wrote The Long Dry in a ten-day stretch in 2005.
Rachel Tresize and her book, Fresh Apples, won the £60,000 EDS Dylan Thomas Prize.
We are always interested in a good story.
