Alan Marshfield was born in Portsmouth in 1933. He read English at King’s College, London. `Dragonfly’ and `Mistress’ (both 1972) are his previous publications; he has also contributed translations of Greek epigrams to `The Greek Anthology’ (Penguin Classics) and of Thai poems to `The Elek Book of Oriental Verse’.
