Synopsis
The overpowering heat of beauty is fast wherever we find it: frantic and chaotic in vibration and fixed fast at a particular point, it is the illumination of a moment of truth. Anna McKerrow’s passionate, emotional and frequently tongue-in-cheek poems explore such themes as love, pain, healing, spirituality and the mysteries of the everyday, from the daily commute to consumerism. Through her original and distinctive work she questions feminism, the wisdom of a handed-down culture and the gender divide. Her lyricism and humour reveal a refreshing and thought-provoking new female voice in modern poetry.
If you've ever been part of a destructive relationship you will identifywith this poetry. If you have ever been wounded . . . you will understandMcKerrow's work, for it expresses the desire all women secretly harbour, tobe loved beyond reason at least once in their lives.'Agnes Meadows in The London Magazine

ANNA McKERROW 30, was born in Surrey, brought up near Bristol and now lives in London. Her poems have been published in magazines but this is her first collection...she has a fresh voice, she understands what makes women (and teens in Jeans for Thoughtful Girls) tick and she can write beautifully. She can also be sexy: "I know you know I'm looking / You can feel my look, ripping / your top buttons off, my thumb in your mouth" and "I want to give you / the soft satisfaction, the lips of the faithful...there...and there" And funny too, especially about break ups - "Next time I'll choose someone taller / You'll go for someone less of a bitch"
Richmond, Keith
Anna's achievement with this fantastic collection is simply outstanding! The poem's are by turns heart-wrenching, heart-warming and heart-breaking. Thanks Anna for a lovely book. Your bravery and strength are evident in every line...!
