Synopsis

The Ice Cream Carpet by Sansom, Peter by Sansom, Peter

The Ice Cream Carpet by Sansom, Peter

The Ice Cream Carpet includes a spellbound dragon, a football fan giraffe, Mr & Mrs Highwayman, life under an umbrella, the final seconds before blast-off into space, a settee in autumn, a cat in the classroom, and stepping through a wardrobe into Rotherham.

Peter has done some strange jobs as a writer, like being the Poet with Marks & Spencer and for several years with the Prudential, but he most enjoys working as a writer in schools and colleges, and is much sought after for his inspiring work with students.

He has also published the textbook Writing Poems (Bloodaxe) and four collections of poetry for adults (Carcanet Press).

Peter Sansom is the best poetry teacher in the world.
— Siân Hughes, the Guardian

He is co-director of The Poetry Business, editing and publishing poetry books and running workshops. He has taught at Leeds, Huddersfield and Manchester universities, and has run workshops and residencies throughout the country including many with the Arvon Foundation. He lives in Sheffield with his wife, the poet Ann Sansom.

Warm and witty illustrations by Ted Schofield
