Synopsis

Torriano Nights - A Festschrift for John Rety by Phil Poole

One of the reasons that people have contributed to this Festschrift for John Rety is his selfless devotion to poetry and other arts since 1982 at 99 Torriano Avenue.

John never stops (despite current dearth of funding) providing facilities for others’ creativity, many of them in poor circumstances whom he has also helped personally. John’s moral steadfastness has been inspiring in an age of celebrity fraud. There is something enabling to others about his way. The fact that even without funding and despite ageing (he must be nearly 80) he does not seem to even consider giving up.
