Details

Robert Seatter's debut collection is characterised by an open, highly personal tone; his style is fresh and uncluttered; his imagery charged and luminous. A love for Italy pervades the book, from a witty poem on an early language text, Living Italian (1955) to 'The Book of Milan' series which concludes the collection.

"An assured and thoughtful debut that introduces a confident and accessible poetic voice."
Sinead Sturgeon, Oxford Poetry

"His poetry takes everyday material - grounded in experience of clothes, sex, language, family - and makes it luminous."
Matthew Jarvis, Poetry Wales

"A very assured first collection, and one in which the best poems are so very strong…"
Catherine Smith, The Frogmore Papers

"His poems are firmly embedded in family and in personal experience… Seatter has talent"
Joe Sheerin, Poetry London

After studying English at Oxford University, Robert Seatter worked variously as an EFL teacher in Italy and France, an actor, a journalist, in publishing and broadcasting. He lives in London where he now works for the BBC. His poetry has been widely published, has won numerous awards and has been featured on radio, television and London buses.
